The Transition from USG to TUA

In March 2021, amidst allegations of anti-Blackness within Tulane’s Undergraduate Student Government (USG), key executives resigned triggering a deep examination of systemic issues within the organization. USG then suspended its infraction system and began discussions on restructuring. Today, the Tulane Undergraduate Assmebly serves as an advocating body of the undergraduate students of Tulane University. Read more about our mission below.

Spring 2021

Conflict

Fall 2021

First Major Reform

USG announces plans for a comprehensive review and restructuring process to address issues of racism and inefficiency.

Spring 2022

Transition

A guiding coalition was created to conduct an internal review. Simultaneously, an external review was conducted NAPSA Advisory Services. Following the reviews, a new design of student government was authorized

Fall 2022

TUA Formation

The Tulane Undergraduate Assembly was announced, including a 34-member assembly and the establishment of new committees. 21 Delegates were elected to represent the student body, signaling a new era in student governance at Tulane University.

January 2023

Inaugural Session

The inaugural session of the Tulane Undergraduate Assembly (TUA) convened on January 20, 2023. Delegates, representing diverse perspectives from across campus, engaged in lively discussions on pressing issues facing the student body, ranging from campus sustainability to equity initiatives
